Women Panchayat Members in Kerala-A Profile

A Profile Recent legislative measures have made possible the greater participation of women in local government. However, there are structural and other constraints which keep women from actively participating in the work of panchayats. This study attempts to sketch a picture of the socio-economic backgrounds and the political motivations of women who become panchayat members.
