Explaining the BJP’s Triumph in the 2023 Madhya Pradesh Elections

It has become increasingly obvious that the state politics of Madhya Pradesh is distinctly bipolar. After 20 years, MP saw a notable shift in the results of the assembly elections in 2023. The higher degree of satisfaction with the state government’s performance is one of the reasons behind this status quo in the political landscape.

The electoral battleground in Madhya Pradesh (MP) witnessed a significant showdown between the two major national political parties, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress (Sisodia 2023). Elections in MP have consistently featured a fierce contest between these two political giants. The BJP confronted a significant challenge in MP, grappling with nearly two decades of anti-incumbency.
