India will be observing the 75th anniversary of its independence in 2022. This will be just the right time for the overdue release of all political prisoners.
In the course of India’s long and very courageous freedom movement, it witnessed a large number of political prisoners. These included many highly distinguished persons, such as M K Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and Jawaharlal Nehru. During the freedom movement, some famous fasts and campaigns were started with the aim of releasing political prisoners and improving the living conditions, which they had to endure in the colonial jails.
