Search for New Allies

The Congress has formed the ministry with the help of the Swatantra Party and Independents. But its position is precarious …

The Opposition parties have also been carrying on their own review of the election results. The SSP has put the blame fairly and squarely on the voters who, according to it, have not, even after four general elections, learnt to vote on the basis of the programmes and policies of various political parties. In this state of affairs, the party bemoans: “votes would be swept away in the storm of money and caste.”

With supreme self-righteousness the party claims that “SSP was the only party professing nationalism, democracy, socialism and non-communalism and wished to bring about fundamental changes.”
