The Economic & Political Weekly (EPW) has been consistently publishing its weekly editions without fail for the last 50 years. It has been observing and commenting on India’s society, economy and polity. It is seen by people in academia, policymakers and development professionals, as a quick source of up-to-date information on the latest issues and debates. To further maintain its credibility as a relatively unbiased commentator is a tall order.

Over the years, through its editorials, commentary section and special articles, EPW has followed the progress of the nation, and has succeeded in focusing on the problems and identifying issues of concern. It always has encouraged new methods, thoughts, and viewpoints in academic literature, and, most importantly, has provided a platform for young and emerging scholars to present their views and academic work, introducing them to the world of academia.
