Where Are the Cow Protectors?

On 22 and 23 May, I visited six villages in the Bundelkhand region—three in Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh, and three in Lalitpur district of Uttar Pradesh—to study the water crisis situation. People told me that during the previous three months, farm and dairy animals, particularly cows, had been dying in all these villages. The main cause was the extreme shortage of water. The total number of animal deaths, mostly cows, in these six villages during the last three months was around 500, according to the villagers.
