Math-writ

If if then then

Then hence thus

Mathematical logic

has me nonplussed.

It’s not logic per se

but the writing to wit

the bore of the so then

the yawn of the math-writ.

I am impelled to storm in

with a melee of adjectives,

make garlands of metaphors

and race with invectives.

Throw caution to the winds

and emblazon this logic

with the passion of words

and the lust of its magic.

With splendid serendipity

will solutions be found,

With dizzying complexity

will a proof resound.

The trickery of probability

sprinkled with algebraic thrills,

And cocky conjectures

to stack up the till.

The solemnity of Gödel,

The no-go there!

The twisted crookery

of Operator-ic fare!

Alas, we are locked

in sensibilities so dull

that a marriage of the two

must for now be left null.

So bolstered with fits of rich

outbursts like this

I plod through the linguistic

desert of math-writ.
