The Whistling Village

Kongthong village has created a distinctive identity for itself owing to the unique folk practice of Jingrwai Iawbei.

Meghalaya is a name that is well known by many as housing the locales with the heaviest rainfall in the world, the double-decker living root bridge, and the like. This state in North East India is also known to be the home of three matrilineal communities: the Khasi, the Jaintia and the Garo.

Kongthong, the whistling village, is cushioned between the Sohra and Pynursla ridges, situated in Khatarshnong Laitkroh tehsil in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya, 65 km away from the capital city Shillong. Kongthong is a paradise for nature lovers.
