The book under review has been edited by Surya Kant and Nina Singh—two eminent geographers in India—and is a compilation of selected essays from a plethora of works penned by their teacher Gopal Krishan as a mark of respect on the occasion of his 75th birthday. Krishan is a teacher of teachers, a scholar, thinker and above all a wonderful human being commanding respect among the geography community all over India.

While going through the articles in this volume, I was recollecting my interactions with him on a couple of occasions since I first met him during the Indo–British Geographers’ Meet at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie in 1993. To listen to him was an enriching experience. He spoke on the Sukhomajri project. How a successful project of watershed development lost its vigour and turned into an unfinished task, and the underlying reasons behind this constituted his lecture.
