In critiquing the current phase and pattern of globalisation, it has often been said that while the current phase of capitalism globalises capital, it restricts the globalisation of labour. While capitalism first developed in what is the global North, as labour organised into trade unions and demanded a larger share, capital shifted first to east Asian economies, then to Latin America, south-east Asia, south Asia, Africa, and so on, looking for cheaper and unorganisedlabour. On the other hand, labour in search of work wanting to explore greener pastures was seriously hindered.Entire regulatory visa systems guard the gates of the developed world and refuse entry to masses of workers.
