Future of AAP

The interesting editorial “AAP at the Crossroads” (14 June 2014) and the article “AAP in Punjab: Exploring the Verdict” by Surinder Singh (19 July 2014) raise a number of questions about the future of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). 

First, was AAP’s good performance in both Delhi and Punjab mainly because of the merits of its own programme or was it simply because of public disillusionment with the Congress Party? This question needs to be considered for as Congress has been reduced to a rump, particularly in Delhi, future gains for AAP would depend on its ability to make inroads in some other directions.
