India, China and the Coming US Drawdown in Afghanistan

The United States' ongoing withdrawal of security forces from Afghanistan presents a security challenge to both India and China. Whether they will cooperate in a joint regional effort to help Afghanistan economically and politically is a question that needs to be asked. As things stand, there are many possibilities, but challenges persist.

The post-United States (US) drawdown situation in Afghanistan after a decade and a half of a military presence, throws up a number of national, regional, political and security challenges for India and China. This essay outlines some of these challenges and prospects for joint Sino-Indian action to tackle them.
