This summer I was tired of waking up in the middle of the night to switch off my air cooler. So I built myself an intelligent extension box that lets me use a remote to switch off the cooler from the comfort of my bed.
I have no training in electronics. I don’t even own a soldering iron. Yet I could build my little gadget thanks to a new kind of hardware that has brought the manufacture of electronic devices with tiny embedded computers within the reach of everyone.
