Wholesale price index (WPI) inflation registered a modest increase of 6.6% in January 2013, the lowest since November 2009. In spite of food article inflation remaining stubborn at 11.9%, the substantial easing in fuel & power and manufactured products inflation rates brought down the overall inflation rate. The consumer price index (CPI) food inflation recorded an increase of 13.5% in January 2013 and overall CPI inflation showed a larger increase of 10.8% in January 2013.
