Annual inflation measured by the wholesale price index registered an increase of 7.18% in December 2012 as compared to 7.74% in December 2011, the lowest since December 2009. This decline has been brought about by a fall in fuel and power (9.4% as against 15.0% in December 2011) and manufactured products (5.0% as compared to 7.6% in the previous year). However, inflation in agricultural food articles at 11.2% was the highest in the past 24 months.
