Biased View

The article “Understanding a Murder Attempt” by M A Moid (EPW, 21 May) was biased. It first suggests that the Muslims of Hyderabad are fighting among themselves. It then talks about Mohammed Pahelwan grabbing lands but does not mention similar activities by the O waisis and the Majlis-e-Ittehadul-Muslimeen (MIM). It also does not mention that Pahelwan provided the manpower for the MIM until the last elections and that it was only when he opposed the Owaisis that he b ecame an enemy for the latter.

Many of the educated of the Old City see the MIM workers as anti-social elements who give loans to the poor at high rates of interest. When alternate politicians are supported for serving the people, the MIM which hitherto had been the sole party and possessed muscle as well as money power is worried about its future.
