The annual rate of inflation based on the Wholesale Price Index relented to 8.23% for January 2011 as compared with 8.43% for the previous month, and 8.53% a year ago, thanks to some softening in food inflation. Snapping its two week rising trend, annual food inflation dropped by nearly four percentage points to 13.07% for the week ending 29 January from 17.05% in the previous week ended 22 January.
