I am glad that the article has brought out the conservation tradition of the Soliga tribes in Biligiri Rangaswamy Temple (BRT) Hills of Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka. However, the following questions still remain unanswered:
If the declaration of BRT Hills as a Wild Life Sanctuary has adversely affected the livelihood of the Soliga tribes, has the Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE) project undertaken there over the years been able to change the policies to reduce the negative impact? If so what are the policy changes initiated with the help of research?
