NABARD and Microfinance
The article ‘On the Microfinance Regulation Bill, 2007’ by Nilakantha Rath (September 15, 2007) has made certain references to National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), which we would like to clarify.
The author has mentioned that the societies and trusts will get donations from NABARD to meet the need for minimum funds of Rs 5 lakh as well as refinance from NABARD. It may be clarified that there is no provision for donation by NABARD in the Bill.
