Chhattisgarh : BJP Consolidates Its Hold

A study of the Lok Sabha elections clearly shows that the BJP is in a better position than ever before in Chhattisgarh. The NCP's role as a third force in the 2003 assembly elections came to an end and its votes were split between the BJP and Congress. The hegemonic sway of the Congress in the state has been replaced by that of the BJP.
