Occupational Cooperatives

Occupational cooperatives in Andhra Pradesh, which for decades provided a source of livelihood for large numbers of people who depended on traditional occupations, have all but collapsed with the launch of the privatisation process. The withdrawal of financial support by the state to these societies has imperilled their existence, and forced its members to seek an alternative livelihood in the labour force.
