Higher Education: New Dilemmas

While demand for higher education has grown in recent decades, the system finds itself ill-equipped to meet the needs of a growing, diverse population. For the government, higher education occupies a low priority; on the other hand, short-term solutions such as fee hikes, appointing temporary teachers and market-driven courses, threaten to compromise whatever quality standards that still exist.
