Misdirected Support for Biofortification Projects

The Gates donation to the CGIAR for 'biofortification' projects comes at a time when the latter is struggling to survive, and has become something of a service centre for corporate interests. A greater humanitarian purpose would have been served had Gates instead donated grants to institutes and groups that would have helped reach available food to the poor, to ensure that the hungry are adequately fed.
