Technical Education: Vacuous Response

Vacuous Response In a knee-jerk response to an issue that needs a great deal of sustained change, the government has decided to introduce licences for engineers to practise their profession, making the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), responsible for what will undoubtedly be a complex task. The decision has reportedly been initiated as a means of regulating the engineering profession, especially since under the GATS requirements Indian engineers will not be able to accept foreign assignments if there are no regulatory mandates for practising the profession in the country.
