New Windows A correspondent writes: Corporate India has reason to feel pleased with itself as the results of the third quarter of 2002-03 roll out. After a prolonged downturn, industrial recovery appears to be under way. The old-economy sectors have led the way with impressive growth in sales and profits in the quarter. Indeed, with the exception of cement and telecom which have posted a decline in profitability and the FMCG group which has registered sluggish growth, the entire manufacturing sector has staged a recovery. The overall picture that emerges is that of various sectors reaping the benefits of vigorous cost-cutting, fall in interest costs, improvements in quality, productivity and technology and higher exports.
