Peace Efforts When prime minister Vajpayee met senior leaders of the NSCN(IM) during his recent visit to Japan, it was widely welcomed as a move strengthening the Nagaland peace process. This was the first time the two sides had met since the extension of the ceasefire to areas outside Nagaland was revoked earlier this year. The government of India and the NSCN(IM) have once again reiterated the need to abide by the framework worked out earlier this year at The Hague, which promised to wrap up the negotiations in two years
