Manipur : Continuing Instability

Since 1972, Manipur has seen seven chief ministers not one of who has completed a full term. Chief ministers and governments have changed no less than 16 times and the latest imposition of president’s rule is its seventh spell thus far.

The downfall of Radhabinod Koijam’s government, one of the shortest lived in the state, sent shock tremors all the way to Delhi, where for several days, the future of the NDA alliance seemed in jeopardy.
