BJP in Tamil Nadu
The article 'Tamil-Friendly Hindutva' by M S S Pandian (May 27) is an anti-BJP tirade. Yet I would like to offer a few comments.
If the "appeal of anti-caste, anti-Hindu, anti-Hindi Tamilness is declining" it is not to be lamented. In my schooldays at Mayavaram in the late 1940s, our street walls used to be plastered with slogans such as: "If you see a pambu and a pappan, kill the pappan first" (If you see a snake and a brahmin, kill the brahmin first). Does Pandian want the Dravidian movement to revert to such rabid views?
