Testament of Faith
deregulation of industry, agriculture Testament of Faith
What should be the contemporary wish? Haribhao, you should have been living at this hour, or ought it be otherwise: Haribhao, it is a good thing that you are no witness to the mayhem that is on in the name of deregulation of trade and industry? This collection of H K Paranjape’s essays on this and related themes will surely have a wide readership given the context of facts and issues that are under examination.
To be frank, this is not a tightly woven book, although it does present a framework wherein the principal elements in th monopoly/anti-monopoly and nationalisation/de-nationalisation debates are comprehensively covered. The book therefore broadcasts a faith. The presentation is nowhere intemperate though. The main arguments on either side of the grand historical debates over state control and regulation are summarised neatly. Haribhao loved to be expansive. Even when making a written presentation, he would go into meticulous detail. At least in the view of the present reviewer, it is not necessary to retrace at this juncture those familiar grounds.
