This is with reference to AM’s Calcutta Diary (March 4). It is expected, at least from well known and mature scholars, to be objective and dispassionate while appraising individuals and their work. The piece included in the Calcutta Diary is however full of malice in letter and in spirit. Such writings put a question mark on the integrity of the author as an intellectual.
