ATLAS CYCLES Indigenous Development INCORPORATED in 1950, Atlas Cycles manufactured its first bicycle in 1952. From an initial capacity to manufacture 120 bicycles per day, the company achieved an annual production of 24,52,464 in 1997-98. This phenomenal growth was made possible through continuous capacity expansion and backward integration programmes. Boasting of an excellent infrastructure base, the company has manufacturing facilities at Sonepat, Rasoi, Sahibabad, near Delhi, and Gurgaon. Today the company has a total installed capacity to manufacture 33,40,000 bicycles per annum. In addition it also manufactures accessories at Sonepat and bicycle frames, forks and other steel tubes at Gurgaon which are captively consumed as well as sold in the domestic and export markets.
