Out of the five constituencies in this region, the Congress remains unchallenged in Udaipur and the two ST reserved constituencies of Banswara and Salumber, while the BJP encounters a stiff challenge in Bhilwara and Chittorgarh. In Chittorgarh, the BJP's senior leader Jaswant Singh is unsure of his victory since the peasants of the region have united on a non-rajput plank and expressed solidarity with the Congress candidate' Uday Lal Aanjana, Moreover, with the Congress(T) merging with the Congress, the split of Congress votes witnessed during the last Lok Sabha elections in this constituency will be averted. The plus factor of a united Congress taking on the BJP in the state is also going to tilt the scales against the BJP in Bhilwara where Shiv Charan Mathur of the erstwhile Congress (T) is this time contesting on the Congress ticket.
