For him the fear is more real in the context of the speculation about an alternative government either headed or supported by the Congress. A fragile BJP- led government, in order to keep the Congress at bay and prevent it from joining the other opposition parties to oust it, might well agree to the Congress demand for a fuller investigation of those at whom the Jain Commission has pointed an accusing finger. Karunanidhi therefore has to send signals to the government assuring it that his party is ready to support it once Jayalalitha quits. But then with his six members how can his support make up for the 18 that the AIADMK commands in the Lok Sabha?
