Police Firing on Striking Workers ON February 19, a contingent of the Haryana police fired upon protesting workers of the Pashupati Spinning and Weaving Mill at Dharuhera, Rewari district, Haryana. Four workers were killed in the firing and five others received bullet injures. The workers then blocked National Highway 8 (on which the factory is situated) through the night. In order to remove them the police earned out a lathi-charge on the morning of February 20. In the course of this operation, they entered workers1 houses, destroyed household goods, smashed doors and windows, and beat up the residents, including women and others who were not associated with the mill Twenty-one people were seriously injured in the process, and many others received minor injuries.
