Global Forays CONSUMER electronics manufacturer BPL saw a 9.8 per cent rise in net sales during 1996-97 while its value of production rose by 2.7 per cent, A lower increase in operating expenses saw the company's operating profit surge by 12.5 per cent. However, a sharp spurt in interest charges (up 38,7 per cent) and depreciation (up 40,4 per cent) saw its bottomline rise by a mere 2.4 per cent.
