While net profit and value of production rose by 26 per cent and 25.7 per cent, respectively, the company's operating profit increased by 31.9 per cent. Though interest charges were higher by 48.2 per cent and depreciation provision was higher by 27.2 per cent over the same period, this increase was partly offset by lower increase in tax provision (2.9 per cent). Consequently, the company's net profit increased by 46.8 per cent over the previous year.
