EPW Research Foundation HINDUSTAN LEVER Brand Extension HINDUSTAN LEVER, a part of the Unilever group, has "performed well during the year ended December 31, 1996, This diversified company is engaged in the production of soaps, synthetic detergents, personal products, tea, coffee, frozen desserts and icecreams, processed triglycerides/hydro- genated oils/vanaspati, dairy products, canned and processed fruits and vegetables, speciality chemicals, sodium tripolyphos- phate, diammonium phosphate, animal feeding stuffs, etc. Among these, a majority of the food products were added to the company's portfolio during the year under review due to the amalgamation of Brooke Bond Lipton India. (The company issued nine shares of Hindustan Lever for every 20 shares of Brooke Bond India,) The major contributors to the company's revenue include soaps (26.2 per cent), synthetic detergents (18.1 percent), tea (17.3 per cent), personal products (9.6 per cent) and processed triglycerides/hydrogenated oils/vanaspati (7.3 per cent).
