The composition of exports has hardly undergone any change in the post-reform period, with the emphasis still on agro-products and gems and jewellery. Export of capital goods constituted about 9.5 per cent of total exports in 1990-91 and in 1996-97 the proportion would be no higher than 9.2 per cent.
