Narmada, the Judiciary and Parliament

Parliament Rohit Prajapati Political parties raised a hue and cry in Gujarat and in parliament against the recent Supreme Court order instructing the government to maintain the height of the Sardar Sarovar dam at its present level Regardless, of this meaningless commotion, two facts stand undisputed: that the dam-affected people of the Narmada Valley are an important party to any settlement on the issue and that dams do not constitute development and hence the current procedures for settling water disputes need to he revised.
