EPW Research Foundation GUJARAT AMBUJA CEMENTS Expanding Capacity GUJARAT AMBUJA CEMENTS (GA) closed the year ended June 1995 with a sales turnover of Rs 370 crore, up by 36 per cent from Rs 271 crore recorded in the previous year. Interest cost rose by 39 per cent. Provision for depreciation rose by 38 per cent. In the face of nil tax provision, GA recorded a net profit of Rs 100 crore, up by 61 per cent from Rs 63 crore in the preceeding year. A dividend of 40 per cent has been recommended against 60 per cent declared last year. Export earnings rose from Rs 39 crore to Rs 50 crore, a rise of 29 per cent. The company exported 4.18 lakh tonne of cement and clinker in 1994- 95, making it the largest exporter of cement and clinker during the year under consideration.
