imported machines producing 1,200 tpa of fish nets. Garware would be cutting down on its cost by manufacturing the machinery, for import duty on finished goods is quite high. The division does not plan to sell its machinery in the domestic market but plans to export it at a later stage. Having a strong presence in the international market with 40 percent of its total production of twines and ropes being exported to more than 35 countries in Europe. West Asia, USA. and south-east Asia, the company has recently entered into a joint venture with the Indonesian Tenia Group' to manufacture 1,200 tpa of synthetic ropes. Since the unit is being set up in Indonesia, the company would be saving 10 per cent import duty, thus enabling it to price its product competitively in the market. Garware-Wall Ropes has commenced its spadework to become the largest cordage manufacturer in the world. The company has also entered into an agreement with a party in Jabel Ali, Dubai, for providing technological and marketing support for manufacture of 600 MT of synthetic ropes thereat, including supply of entire set of plant and machinery as also continued supply of requisite quality of yarn from India.
