FOR the victims of the Bhopal gas disaster, each passing year brings more evidence of the systematic efforts being made to erase their histories. The story began soon after the gas leak; but it was the Indian government's decision in 1989 on the settlement, arrived at with unseemly haste, that made legitimate the process of obliteration.
