EPW Research Foundation CROMPTON GREAVES Foreign Tie-Lips CROMPTON GREAVES, the flagship of the Thapar group and one of the largest private sector electrical engineering firms, closed its fiscal year ended March 1995 with a turnover of Rs 999 crore, up by 20 per cent from Rs 828 crore recorded last year. Interest costs came down by 10 per cent from Rs 41 crore to Rs 37 crore. Rise in provision for depreciation from Rs 11 crore to Rs 16 crore coupled with a rise in tax provision from Rs 8 crore to Rs 17 Crore did little to dampen the bottomline which rose from Rs 31 crore to Rs 43 crore.
