Unravelling Deceit GN THERE arc many who still retain the illusion that there is a difference between the lumpens who demolished the Babri masjid and those who provide the intellectual input for bigotry and xenophobia. The gongs-on at the World Archaeological Congress -3 came as an eye- opener. The Indian organisers of WAC-3 fought first to ensure that there was no discussion of the Ayodhya issue at the congress, and when exposed used every trick to thwart a general resolution being passed condemning the demolition of Babri masjid and manipulation of evidence by archaeologists. In the process, the machinations of pseudo patriots besmirched the country's honour and earned a bad name for India's archaeologists and historians.
