recessionary trend of the previous year. Net sales went up by 28 per cent and operating profit by 15 per cent, while net profits soared by 676 per cent. This was attributable to reduced interest burden and nil provision for taxation. There has been a sharp fall in the company's non-operating profits and in its other income. AL has declared a dividend of 27 per cent for the year as against 12 per cent in the previous year. The company has done very well on the export front with exports going up by 118 per cent. The debt-equity ratio of the company has come down from 197 per cent
