that of light commercial vehicles rose by 46.7 percent. Similarly, output of cars went up by 17.3 per cent, scooters by 27.7 per cent, motor cycles by 32.8 per cent and three-wheelers by 62.6 per cent. It could thus be said that industrial growth is being led by the automobiles group which as a whole has registered a growth of 29 per cent. In the case of commercial vehicles there had been a substantial loss of production in the last two years which is now being made up, presumably under the impetus of better agricultural growth. In the case of cars and other passenger vehicles, the demand has been stimulated by easy availability of commercial bank credit. In addition to automobiles, output of air- conditioners and refrigerators has risen by 29 per cent each and consumer durables as a group have reported a growth of 20 per cent in April-July.
