EPW Research Foundation Metazinc (India) AN established, multi-product company, Metazinc has pioneered the manufacture of insoluble sulphur and zinc oxide (both products vital for the manufacture of tyres) in India. In addition the company also manufactures sulphuric acid, dispersing agents and dye chemicals. The company's zinc oxide plant at Bhiwandi in Maharashtra has been set up in technical collaboration with Vine Chemicals, UK and it was the second company in the world to take up the manufacture of insoluble sulphur following the commissioning of its plant at Patalganga in 1984. The company is now undertaking a diversification programme envisaging the setting up of a project for the manufacture of organic rubber chemicals. The project with an installed capacity of 6,500 tpa is to be set up at a total cost of Rs 75.68 crore and will be located at Patalganga in Maharashtra. The project which is expected to go on stream by November 1995 will manufacture both antioxidants and accelerators
