Ban on Use of Pesticides THE announcement by the union agriculture secretary, M S Gill, that the use of 12 pesticides is banned and 13 additional pesticides is restricted in agriculture is welcome news. While this signifies the acceptance by the government that pesticides are dangerous from health and environment angles, restricting the ban to use in agriculture is meaningless.
