Working Group on Child Labour

Working Group on Child Labour AN international working group was formed at the International Child Labour Seminar organised by the Free University, Amsterdam, from August 30 to September 2, 1992. The mandate of the working group is to develop an international strategy for the elimination of child labour, based on experiences of local/ national groups and individuals working with/for working children. The working group's report is to be presented at the ILO convention focusing on child labour, planned for 1994, The working group will comprise individuals from Africa, Asia, Latin America and other regions, corresponding to the geographical scope of the working group. It will also include two members of Defence Children International (DO) and the International Society on Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ISPCAN). International agencies such as the ILO, UNICEF and WHO will be invited to cooperate with the working group by appointing observers, ISPCAN and DCI are jointly creating and supporting the working group. Nandana Reddy (India) has been appointed as the chairperson of the working group.
