Kerala Economy at Crossroads Alice Albin K K SUBRAHMANIAN (September 15, 1990) in his paper 'Development Paradox in Kerala: Analysis of Industrial Stagnation' (hereinafter KKS) states that Kerala is industrially backward and that the growth rate of the manufacturing sector is relatively slow: Though the structure of the economy has undergone some changes marked by decline in the share of the primary sector and an increase in share of the tertiary sector, it has not stimulated growth in the secondary sector.
